Description: Alpha-Lipoic Acid is a sulfur-containing compound that is vital for the formation of ATP, which provides cellular energy. Absorption/Storage :Due to its chemical structure, alpha-lipoic acid is easily absorbed.
Dosage/Toxicity: As an antioxidant, the recommended dosage is 20-50mg a day. For diabetes, the recommended amount is 300-600mg a day. Before taking product, you are advised to consult with a trained health care professional.
Deficiency: A deficiency in lipoic acid may result in the following: build up of latic acid causing muscle cramps, decreased muscle mass, and brain atrophy.
Common Uses: The main uses of this accessory nutrient are for the treatment of diabetes and AIDS. Other uses of lipoic acid include treating cirrhosis of the liver, cataracts, and heart disease.
Precautions: Consult a physician if pregnant, symptoms of nausea, diarrhea, or dizziness last more than a week, or if new symptoms appear.
